About Us
Guide Empowerment Programs (GEP) is a national nonprofit organisation dedicated to empowering young people through education, vocational training, entrepreneurship, climate and environmental sustainability, and social transformation.
GEP was established as an offshoot of the Grass Field United Initiative for Development and Education (GUIDE) — a community-based organisation founded on 4th April 2020 in Grass Field, Sierra Leone.
GUIDE began as a grassroots response to challenges facing local youth, including limited educational opportunities, unemployment, and the growing threat of substance abuse. During the COVID-19 pandemic, GUIDE played a vital role in community awareness and prevention campaigns, distributing masks, hygiene materials, and public education messages to protect vulnerable populations.
Through its early programs, GUIDE supported young people with school materials, literacy projects, and vocational training — helping many transition from idleness and dependency to self-reliance and productivity. GUIDE also engaged in community cleaning exercises, fostering long-term environmental wellbeing.
As youth challenges expanded beyond Grass Field — including drug abuse, school dropout, and rising unemployment — the vision evolved into a broader national movement. This led to the establishment of GEP, which continues and expands GUIDE's mission to a national scale, serving youth across Sierra Leone's urban and rural communities.
Today, GEP empowers young people with practical skills, mentorship, and advocacy programs that promote sustainable development, leadership, and a drug-free generation.
To provide young people with access to vocational and educational skills that enhance employability, foster entrepreneurship, and promote independence — thereby reducing unemployment, drug abuse, and changing the narrative of youth in society.
To build a generation of empowered, skilled, and innovative young people who drive sustainable development and social transformation in Sierra Leone.
